When brewer meets farmer, meets e-commerce
Hawkstone is the creation between master brewer Rick Keene and antagonist turned agriculturist, Jeremy Clarkson. Jeremy teamed up with Rick to create a premium British Lager using the malting barley he produced on his Diddly Squat Farm in rural Chipping Norton.

The brief
The brief was in essence simple; take the existing Hawkstone Squarespace store and improve the web design to provide a (mobile first) fully spec’d design for 10 bespoke templates, ready for migration. Pluro, the project owners and developers turned to us to deliver this Shopify store design. One that was impactful, had a UX flow focussed on conversion and all within 4 weeks.. yes, only 4 weeks. Using our Momentum Methodology, we captured the right brand information and its e-commerce store flow needs so we could deliver a web design of quality and on time.
Optimised to convert
Its all well and good having a fantastic brand, brand story and good looking website, but that counts for nothing if it does not convert. For the product page, like other pages, we applied our extensive knowledge base and experience to maximise opportunity for conversation.
Mobile first
It should go without saying. If you are not designing a Shopify store (or any web store) mobile first then you are not putting your customers first. Designing for mobile greatly reduces bounce rates and massively improves user experience. Experiencing a great beer is not done by taste only.

The Hawsktone brand had a strong, powerful and rigid structure that connected back to Norse origins. We took these detailed yet subtle structures into the Shopify web design, incorporating the use of a block and stacked structure across the UI and template designs. The typography was set on a tight leading/line space to marry the brand art direction with a modern e-commerce functional store, with a theme colour palette nodding back to more simple, traditional times.
